Those that know my Mom and Dad well know they are BIG baseball and football fans. Dad is a Detroit Tigers fan (and so is Cody since he is a feline), but Mom and I are true to Mom’s original team, The Cleveland Indians. (Mom lived in Cleveland for 35 years and was at the World Series twice when the Indians were there and she was at a number of playoff games. The photo below is when Mom was at the 1995 World Series, she is on the right). Why am I an Indians fan? Because I am one of the BIGGEST “Mama’s Boy” Shelties known to man, THAT’S why!! (and because I know who to kiss up to for extra treats!)

My Mom is on the right, this was from the World Series in 1995

Our post is PERFECTLY APPROPRIATE FOR THE WORD “VICTORIOUS!!” READ ON AND YOU WILL SEE WHY:

Well, this week the Cleveland Indians, (affectionately known as “The Tribe” had TWO HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENTS. The first is The Cleveland Indians won 22 CONSECUTIVE GAMES, THE SECOND LONGEST STREAK IN HISTORY AND IT WAS THE LONGEST WINNING STREAK IN AMERICAN LEAGUE HISTORY!!

FACTS FROM CBS SPORTS:

1. It’s the second longest winning streak in history.

Some say it’s the longest winning streak. But, according to MLB, this is the second-longest winning streak ever.

2. Not many of the 22 wins were close.

More than half the 22 wins were decided by at least four runs. Pretty incredible.

3. Their Pythagorean record was 21-1.

Pythagorean record is a fancy term for expected record based on run differential. That plus-105 run differential equals an expected 21-1 record in those 22 games thanks to all those big blowout wins. There is always going to be some element of luck to a 22-game winning streak, but make no mistake, the Indians straight up dominated for 22 games.

4. The Indians had just one walk-off win.

5. The Indians trailed for only eight innings.

6. They swept two doubleheaders.

7. Cleveland won 15 games in 14 days.

8. The Indians had long home and road winning streaks simultaneously.

9. The fans gave the team a big hand after the streak ended.

To read the rest of these amazing stats visit CBS SPORTS (they listed 22 stats in honor of the Indians historic 22 game winning streak.)

THE SECOND HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT?

THE CLEVELAND INDIANS HAVE CLINCHED

THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE AL  CENTRAL TITLE

FROM CBS SPORTS:

What was once a formality is now official: The Cleveland Indians are the 2017 AL Central champions. Saturday’s win over the Royals (CLE 8, KC 4) combined with the Twins losing to the Blue Jays (TOR 7, MIN 2) clinched Cleveland’s second straight division title.

This is the first time the Indians have won back-to-back division titles since winning five straight from 1995-99. Cleveland clinched a postseason berth earlier this week, so their ticket to the playoffs was already punched.

Mom and I are hopeful that the Cleveland Indians will once again make it to the World Series (they lost to the Chicago Cubs in 2016) and that this time, for the FIRST TIME since 1948, they will WIN!! We have our paws crossed!! “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRIBE!!!”

“He Ain’t a Kitty, He’s my BROTHER!” National Siblings Day

Ok, so he IS  a kitty! But….he is still my brother!! I don’t know what I would do without him. Since Cody wakes Dad up for breakfast and whines at all of our meals, without Cody, I would probably never know when mealtime is!

Wouldn’t it be great if the rest of the world loved each other no matter what their physical appearance or ethnicity?

Humans sure have a lot to learn from us!

Barks and licks and love,

Dakota

Put me in Coach!! #putyourCAPon

Hi all! It’s Dakota and today Mom and I are excited because MOM’S TEAM (The defending American League Champions, The Cleveland Indians) kicks off the 2017 baseball season at 7pm today against the Texas Rangers.

Yes, Mom lives in Detroit, but she lived in Cleveland for 35 yrs so Cleveland is HER TEAM!!! Also, today it has been 16 years since Mom’s Dad passed and he was a HUGE baseball fan. It was thanks to Mom’s Dad that she developed a love for the “Boys of Summer” too.

So, because I am a Mama’s boy, I have adopted the Cleveland Indians as my team too! Oh and DAD’s team, (The Detroit Tigers) kicks off their season at 4pm today against the Chicago White Sox, but Mom and I don’t care about that! BOL!!! (Kidding! We like the Tigers when the Indians are out of contention).

Wishing EVERYONE’S team lots of luck this season! But…..Gooooooooooooooooo Tribe!!!!!

Barks and licks and love,

Dakota

Fun Facts About Names and A Thank You!

Hi all! Today is Fun Facts About Names Day  a day where people are encouraged to learn about the meaning of their names and the history behind them.

When Dakota first joined our family his name was “Tanner.”  Now, there is nothing wrong with that name, but to me, it just didn’t suit Dakota. I had liked the name “Dakota” for years and when I looked up the meaning, it said “Trusted Friend.” (that was the American Indian meaning and I am too lazy to look up what tribe it was).  That was it for me. I promptly named him Dakota.

As for me…the name “Caren” means “Pure” and it says it is a “Swedish baby name.” I have also seen the name attached to “Catherine” since my parents spelled my name in a non-traditional form. The question is “Pure” WHAT? (That is a rhetorical question, no need to answer! lol)

So, what does YOUR pet’s name mean? What does YOUR name mean?

Also, we would like to thank those who stopped over to Dakota’s blog to wish him a Happy Birthday. We try extremely hard  to always acknowledge our friend’s birthdays by leaving a comment on their blog,  and we do it whenever we are aware of a birthday, so we DEEPLY THANK those who took the time to stop by. Dakota received some nice photos/cards that we are sharing in the form of collages.

Once again we thank you all so very much!! We have another thank you planned for Friday, (hopefully!) of something special that Dakota received in the mail.

To us, a 10th birthday is a pretty big deal, (for that matter, ANY pet’s birthday is a big deal!) so once again thanks to those who visited Dakota’s blog on his special day.

Love Your Pet Day

Yes, yes, yes, I know I am preaching to the choir when I am saying that today is “Love Your Pet Day”………..because all of you who are reading this blog love your pets EVERY DAY, AS IT SHOULD BE!!! Sadly, those who still continue to abandon and abuse animals will never quite understand this day. We can pray that one day they will.
