Keep your Pets Safe with the ASPCA Summer Safety Tips and Give-Away!

Hi  friends!! Today is the first day of summer here in the U.S. ! We had some crazy hot temps last week but thankfully it has cooled off a bit. With summer having arrived,  the hot weather will be setting in for good!

Many people with pets will be spending more time outside due to the warmer weather and that poses added risks. Everything from heat to fireworks. July 4th is right around the corner, (the fireworks cause many pets to escape and go missing), as a result  the ASPCA wants to remind pet owners of the IMPORTANCE of being sure that your pet has an ID. July 1st is also ID Your Pet Day. Your pet should have an ID tag with updated info, even microchips are great. Dakota has  a microchip, they are always a good idea.

The ASPCA has created this mini infographic with  super important safety tips to help keep your furbabies safe this summer:

How Many of These Pet Eye Facts Do You Know? (Guest Infographic)

Your pup’s eyes are the window to their soul. While you no doubt have great difficulty saying ‘no’ to those adorable eyes, how much do you really know about them?

You may not know this, but dogs, cats and most other animals actually have a third eyelid. We humans are actually the odd ones out! Take a look at the infographic below to learn more facts about your pet’s eyes – including why they seem to glow in the dark, and how they see the world.

Lenstore designed this infographic as part of their #LoveYourPetsEyes campaign, supporting Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s new vet hospital. This campaign raises awareness of common eye conditions in dogs and cats.

July is Hydration Month! PetSafe Wants to Know:Is Your Pet Drinking Enough Water?

This is the human talking! When it comes to talking about water for HUMANS, I am an expert! Don’t think so? Ohhh wait til I tell you!

I have a condition called Medullary Sponge Kidneys, which translated, means, I have 100s of stones, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! I found out I had this condition approximately 19 years ago when I was in the throes of a kidney stone attack. (You wouldn’t know if you have this condition unless you have your stones analyzed and have XRays and ultrasounds.)

Long story short, the only way I can manage my stones is by drinking LOTS AND LOTS of water! How much do I have to drink? Ready? While you “normal” people can get by on eight, 8 oz glasses a day, I have to drink 128 ounces per day (yes you read that correctly, 128 ounces!! In hot weather I am supposed to double that). Do I do that every day? No, but I am supposed to!

Our friends at PetSafe know that it isn’t only humans like me who don’t always drink enough water, our pets often face the same challenge! Thankfully, they don’t have to drink 128 ounces of water like I do, but DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WATER YOUR PET NEEDS TO BE HYDRATED?

In honor of July being Hydration Month PetSafe has created this super infographic that lets you know how much water your pet needs and how to help them get it!

Drink up pals!!

Help Keep Dogs and Cats Safe In The Cold Outdoors!

Hi my furiends!!! Sooo many of you are battling tons and tons of snow, (Boston has over 61 inches!!!) and in Michigan and much of the country, temperatures are going to PLUNGE yet again into the teens and lower.  It is important in these extreme winter weather conditions to protect all of the animals!

Our furiends at the ASPCA  have created an animated infographic that I think you are gonna love! It highlights essential tips to help keep animals safe when the temperatures drop.  This graphic not only includes ways to protect YOUR pet(s) in chilly weather, but it also has vital information on how to help dogs that may be left outside in dangerously cold conditions, and is also useful for cats that are living outdoors.
