Barks and licks and love, Dakota and “Mom”

Pet Winery Has Holiday Cheer for Your Pets! (World-Wide Give-Away!)

Disclosure: I received products from Pet Winery for Dakota and Cody to review. I was not compensated monetarily for this post because in keeping with the spirit of “Giving” at Thanksgiving, I chose to waive my fee.  If in doubt about any product for your dog or cat to drink, ask your Veterinarian first, as I did!

There is nothing I love more than when I discover a company that  has quirky, fun and interesting products, AND they are a company that gives back!  The company I am featuring today, Pet Winery, is that company!

The holiday season officially kicks off this week with the arrival of Thanksgiving in the U.S. Humans often  enjoy indulging in some holiday “cheer”, why should your pets miss out? Now, they don’t have to!

Pet Winery features PetWines, PetChampagne, DogBeer, Martinis and PetTEA for dogs AND cats! (Spoiler Alert: Cody will be featuring products on his blog with a give-away on December 1st.)

Pet Winery was founded to create healthy beverages and treats for your canine and feline friends. They are animal enthusiasts and work hard to make products that are vitamin enriched, healthy and safe for your best friend. They are located in  Florida and only use US organic products to ensure the highest level of quality. All products are produced in a food grade lab in an ISO7 clean room.

When Dakota and Cody’s products arrived I was just dying with how clever and adorable they are! Dakota received BarkBrew Beef Ale and Dog Pawrignon featured below:

BarkBrew Beef Ale: Beer for dogs! How funny is that? Available in 3 great flavors; Chicken Ale, Beef Ale, or Calm Ale (Salmon oil and Hemp oil.)

Dog Pawrignon: Champagne for dogs! Formulated so you can now pop bottles with your dogs! This 12oz bottle is the perfect drink. Blended with filtered water, a healthy dose of salmon oil (wild caught) and organic food coloring.

THE BOTTLES ARE SAFE, THEY ARE NOT GLASS.

I checked with my Vet first before allowing Dakota to taste both drinks (at separate times), and he said as with anything else, if it  is something your pet isn’t used to, giving an extremely small amount is the wise way to go. (Both bottles have suggested serving amounts listed on them)

Pet Winery Gives Back!!  Pet Winery Estates knows  “that every paw matters.” As a result, they  decided to work together with  Shelters, Rescues, Humane Societies, and other pet adoption agencies. Each month they  feature a different agency and donate a portion of their sales to them! By featuring a different agency each month you will get to find out who the agency is, what they do and their mission. You will get to know their team and meet some of their adoptable pets. By donating a portion of each purchase to the agencies featured, they are helping them continue what they do best, “finding homes for their Pawfriends.” How cool is that?

Your purchase will help them make a difference, so visit their website and make a purchase for your pets today! There is even a special for Black Friday 30% OFF WITH CODE: BLACKFRIDAY (*not available on bundle deals).

NOT SURE WHAT TO BUY YOUR FAMILY AND FURIENDS WITH PETS? PET WINERY HAS GIFT CARDS so they can choose items for themselves!!

3 Reasons Why I Am Thankful For My Dog (Secrets You Never Knew)

Rachael Ray Nutrish has sponsored this post, but all opinions are my own.

One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner, Thanksgiving. It is a favorite of mine for a number of reasons, yes, the food is decadent and scrumptious,  but I love Thanksgiving for another huge reason as well, it enables me to stop, take a deep breath from the trials and pressures of life in my daily world, as well as the world around us, and take stock of what I am thankful for. This is something I should be doing every day, but like many others, I do not do it enough.

Some of the things I am thankful for are my husband, my family, friends,  a roof over our heads, food on our table and the pets by my side.

This year in particular I am especially thankful for Dakota. This self-professed “cat person” and this incredibly sensitive and loving dog have become obsessed with each other. I am sure this didn’t happen overnight, Dakota is now ten years old, it has been ten years in the making.

Dakota is the first dog I have had as an adult. When I was a child we had a dog, but I had never had one on my own until Dakota.  When Dakota first joined our family, I was clueless. I had cats for approximately 20 years and knew nothing about caring for a dog. Dakota not only helped me learn about dogs in general, but with his unconditional love and devotion, he enabled ME to learn about HIM.

1. Dakota Expanded My Horizons: Having been immersed in the world of cats for so many years, I am thankful that having Dakota enabled me to meet some of the most knowledgeable dog bloggers in the world. Some of them I have been blessed to meet in person, others I am close to via email and their blogs. Many have become like family to me and they have enriched my life more than they could know.

2. Dakota enabled me to be a Brand Ambassador for a Company that I am honored to represent: I am thankful that Dakota enabled  me to take my years of loving all things Rachael Ray, (long before I ever had a blog), to an entirely different level. When I first bought Nutrish  in 2008, Dakota didn’t have a blog, (his blog began in 2011, a thank you to Yvonne DiVita at BlogPaws who strongly suggested that Dakota have his own blog, even if I was kicking and screaming that I did not want Dakota to have a blog, because I already had a cat blog, and how would I ever manage TWO blogs?)

I never dreamed that Dakota’s blog  would lead he  and I to be Brand Ambassadors for Rachael Ray Nutrish. It is an honor that I cherish and I am  proud to have been a part of for nearly 5 years. I am thankful  for this relationship on so many levels. It is a complete delight to work with the people I am involved with at Nutrish,  and it delights me because Dakota truly eats Nutrish (and has since 2008).  Authenticity is important to me, and it is a HUGE component of our blog. I am also grateful to be an Ambassador for Rachael Ray Nutrish because Rachael as a person, and the brand as a whole,  truly cares about animals and gives back.

Rachael Ray created:Rachael’s Rescue® which came about to care for all of the forgotten pets – the ones who might not have someone who loves them as much as they deserve. A portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish is donated to The Rachael Ray Foundation, which helps animals in need through Rachael’s Rescue. Through September 2017, Rachael’s Rescue has donated more than $21 million dollars to pet charities and other organizations that do good for animals. The funds are used for food, medical supplies, treatments, and more for animals in need. Many more animals around the country need help, and through Rachael’s Rescue, together we can make a difference in the lives of many four-legged friends.

 3. Dakota has taught me to be a “little” more patient: I am thankful that Dakota taught me that yes, “patience IS a virtue.” I am NOT known for being patient. Living with and loving Dakota has taught me that things aren’t necessarily going to happen when I want them to. Housebreaking a dog,  teaching commands, learning how to interact with each other, it all takes TIME and PATIENCE.  There are many “how to train a dog” books that have been written, I have read a ton of them, but an important point that must be taken into consideration is, what is “tried and true” for some, might not be “tried and true” for all. Each dog, just like each human who lives with a dog is an individual.  What motivates one, may not motivate another.

I try to make sure I remember that Dakota isn’t a “cookie-cutter” dog. Taking the time to learn about MY dog and only MY dog is one of many lessons that Dakota has taught me that I am thankful for.  While Dakota appreciates that I have become more patient there is still one thing he wishes that HE could be thankful for…….what is it? That when it comes to taking photos, that I would just disappear!

There you have it, those were my 3 Reasons Why I Am Thankful For My Dog  (yes I have a TON more but you have better things to do than to read about a ZILLION reasons why I am thankful for my dog).

Now it’s YOUR turn, what are YOU thankful for? What has your dog taught you? Has your dog “Made the switch to Nutrish?” Leave us a comment below and tell us, we would LOVE to hear!

About Rachael Ray Nutrish: In 2007, with help from pet nutrition experts, Rachael Ray created Nutrish super-premium food and treats for dogs inspired by recipes from her own kitchen. In 2014, we were very excited to grow the brand into the world of cat food. Whether intended for dogs or cats, Nutrish recipes are made with simple, wholesome ingredients like real meat or fish, and do not contain poultry by-product meal or fillers.

My Kitty Brother Stole MY Cuddle Blanket!

This post was sponsored in product and compensation by Mirage Pet Products

Funky Monkey Luxurious Plush Pet Blanket:

Made for Pets who LOVE to Cuddle!

Available at:

Hi everyone! It’s Dakota and yep I am writing this post but I am afraid you won’t be seeing me today. Why? Because I recently received a Cuddle Blanket (Sleepytime by Petflys, available at Mirage Pet Products), that a certain kitty has stolen!! Yes my furiends, Cody stole my blanket!!!!!!

See what I mean? In fairness, I don’t blame Cody for taking over my blanket even if it IS intended for dogs.  We all know that cats are connoisseurs of comfort and coziness  and Cody IS a cat. There are many dogs who ARE attracted to blankets, some of them even carry them around the house in their mouths, or they sleep on them in their beds.

Often their pawrents will put a blanket in their crate, and if the dog is a puppy the Cuddle Blanket would bring he or she LOTS of soothing comfort.  It would be perfect to have in a pet carrier for a trip to the Vet or to swaddle a smaller dog. Many dogs like to lounge on the couch or in a chair. I am not one of those dogs. I am super fluffy and carry my own blanket and bed right on my back! I rarely climb on to the couch and I don’t sleep in chairs.  So, what cat WOULDN’T take over a velvety soft, unattended blanket? Cody was simply acting like the thief cat that he is, nothing wrong with that!

Truth be told, when Mom was selecting items from Mirage Pet Products for Cody and I to feature on our blogs, when Mom selected this blanket, she completely had Cody on her mind because she knew that Cody  would LOVE it, Mom didn’t care that the blanket is meant for dogs, she saw no reason why cats can’t enjoy it too!

Mom thinks those “Funky Monkeys” are just too cute! They remind her of the sock monkeys from the Stone Age when she was young. Mom says this blanket is sooooooo soft and velvety that it would also be good for human babies! Psssst: don’t tell, but Mom wants this same blanket in a larger size…FOR HER!!!

Mom just might be in luck! Mirage Pet Products has these pet blankets and there are a number of sizes (and different patterns) available! The size I received is a 1/2 blanket which is 30 x 36 inches.  I guess Mom would want the Luxurious Plush Big Baby Blanket in the Funky Monkey pattern for HER!!

So my furry pals, whether you are a dog, cat or a HUMAN, you have GOT to get this blanket and feel the softness for yourself! It would make a great gift for the pet (or pet lover!) in your life! Oh and when it arrives, if you don’t want it stolen you had better act FAST!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A KITTY IN THE HOUSE!!!
